At Crimson Birds Studio, we make the kind of games we’d love to play ourselves.
We’re driven by curiosity: strange stories, bold mechanics, and that feeling you get when a game surprises you in just the right way.
We like to experiment, make mistakes, and try again, because we believe there’s still so much left to explore in this medium. And sometimes, the best way to reach people is by doing something no one expects.
We're not interested in chasing trends, we chase what excites us. Games with soul, brave ideas, and that dark, charming vibe that feels uniquely ours. But most of all, we want to make games that make us say: "Now this… this is cool!"
Crimson Birds Studio was born in 2020 when two friends finishing their higher education in game development decided to join forces to create their own games. Over time, other friends joined the project, and although some had to leave for work reasons (always on good terms), the passion for making authentic games never faded. Today, we are three founders +2 working with the same excitement as at the start.
Our first big project was Good Morning Freistatt, an action roguelite set during World War II. It challenged us a lot and left us invaluable lessons: we won awards like GameMakers 3.0 and GameDevLab, but we also realized it was too ambitious for our capabilities at the time. We decided to put it on hold and focus on smaller projects and commissions that allowed us to grow and gain experience.
What drives us is making games we genuinely want to play ourselves, bringing our vision and leaving our mark on the national and local industry. So far, we have self-funded everything but are currently looking for support to keep growing.
A key moment for us was accepting the reality of putting Freistatt aside and learning by working on other titles and commissions. Being part of incubators like GameDevLab, GameBCN, and Madrid in Game has also been crucial, opening doors and helping us consolidate the studio.
Right now, we are fully focused on Blade and Madness, a project we are passionate about and that perfectly represents our philosophy: if we want to play it already, we’re on the right path.
We want to bring fresh indie spirit, an authentic vision from our perspective, and strengthen the game industry network within our community.
